W93.5FM with Ideapath Consult launches electorates’ engagement forum “Voter’s Voice”

One of the most celebrated media houses in the Upper West Region, W93.5FM, in partnership with Ideapath Consult has outdoored a community level engagement programme dubbed Voters Voice ahead of Election 2020.

The programme which was launched in the Kumbiehi Electoral Area on November 13, 2020, is designed to create a platform for electorates to share their experiences, ask questions and demand accountability and commitment from stakeholders and political parties. It also seeks to solicit from voters what will inform their choices in the 2020 elections.

The programme during the launch had some ward executives of the two major political parties, NDC and NPP, as panel members, with the Chief Executive Officer of Ideapath Consult, Tahiru Lukman, as a principal resource person.

Mr. Tahiru noted that, Ideapath Consult, which is a Non Governmental Organization, believes in good governance. he therefore underscored the need to create citizens awareness in a democratic dispensation as that will help to inform a better voting pattern. He explained that the Voters Voice programme is crafted to contribute to voter enlightenment and to help shape the decision of the voter.

The young CEO stressed that “We are not here to tell you to vote for or against any candidates. Our duty is to provide technical support in answering questions regarding stakeholders’ responsibilities and policy directions”.

With about 200 participants, the atmosphere was positively charged with issues of roads, electricity extension and quality healthcare being the most prioritized needs of residents of Kumbiehi Electoral Area.

Majority of the community members hinted that, this year’s elections is a constest of governments track record and candidates commitment to their development needs, thus their resolve to vote based on that. They appeal that irrespective of the party that emerges victorious, their road should be worked on.

While others were full of praise for the incumbent Member of Parliament for Wa Central, Hon. Alhaji Rashid Pelpuo (Phd), some were critical of his representation over the years. In same vain, some applauded the NPP’s Hajia Humu Awudu, while others accused her of taking government projects to her advantage.

The programme was moderated by two finest personalities in the media fraternity, Hafiz Timbile and Salifu Wononuo of W93.5FM fame.
